CHAPTER 2

A. Response to Wrongdoing in the Church 2:5-11

CHAPTER 3

A. Roles of the Spirit 3:1-6

    1. Publishes the Gospel through Changed Lives
    2. Qualifies for Service through God's Power
    3. Resurrects for Righteous Living

B. Products of the Spirit's Ministry 3:7-18

    1. Brightness of His Glory
    2. Rightness of Living
    3. Boldness in Speaking God's Word

CHAPTER 4

A. We have this Ministry 4:1-6

    1. Motivated by Mercy
    2. Oriented to Serve
    3. Steadfastness Required

B. We have this Treasure 4:7-12

    1. Troubled - Not Distressed
    2. Perplexed - Not in Despair
    3. Persecuted - Not Forsaken
    4. Cast down - Not Destroyed
    5. Dying - Yet Alive

C. We have this Faith 4:13-18

    1. Perspective - Even Problems are Productive
    2. Perseverance - Faithfulness in Affliction
    3. Partnership - Spiritual Renewal and our Response

Verse to Remember:

    We do not lose heart. Outwardly we are wasting away, but inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 4:16

CHAPTER 5

A. The Journey of Life 5:1-5

    1. Where are you going? - Heaven's New Body
    2. Where are you coming from? - Life's Groaning
    3. What will it take to get you there? - Death's Victory

B. Attitudes of the Pilgrim 5:6-10

    1. Courageous to Face Difficult Challenges
    2. Ambitious to Please God
    3. Conscientious to Prepare to meet God

C. Gathering Others as We Go 5:11-15

    1. Neither Bragging, nor Crazy
    2. Motivated by Fear and Love

D. Reconciliation is Our Ministry 5:16-21

    1. Requiring a Right View and Forgiveness
    2. Resulting in Change and a Call
    3. Revolving around Realization and Daily Renewal

    Christ died for all, that those who live no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died for them and was raised again. 5:15

CHAPTERS 6 & 7

A. Partnership with God 6:1-10

    1. Exhortation - Don't Allow Fruitlessness
    2. Example - Don't cause others to Stumble
    3. Evaluation - Honest Reflection reveals Faithfulness

B. Partnership with One Another 6:11 - 7:1

C. Resolution of Conflict 7:2-7

    1. Honest Assessment of the Breakdown
    2. Commitment to Develop Relationships
    3. Praising Others to Build them up

D. Good Grief 7:8-16

    1. Relational Impact - Promote Devotion, Respect & Affection
    2. Attitude toward Wrong - Sorrow Resulting in Repentance
    3. Eternal Product - Salvation and Life

    Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation. 7:10

CHAPTERS 8 & 9

A. The Grace of Giving 8:1-15

    1. Comparison with Worthy Models
    2. Characteristics of Giving
    3. Completion of the Gift

B. Responsible Managers 8:16 - 9:5

    1. Are Spiritually Concerned
    2. Take Initiative
    3. Are Respected and Cooperative

C. Generosity 9:6-15

    1. Bountiful in Harvest
    2. Thoughtful in Response
    3. Cheerful in Attitude
    4. Worshipful in Effect

    The service that you perform is supplying the needs of God's people, and overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. 9:12

CHAPTER 10

A. Confronting Evil in the Church 10:1-6

    1. A Temperament of Humility and Kindness
    2. Utilizing God's Power
    3. The Goal -- creating a Godly Mental Attitude

B. Authenticity 10:7-11

    1. Security in Who We Are
    2. Authority from God for Edification
    3. Sensitivity to avoid using Harsh Words and Threats

C. Approval 10:12-18

    1. Comparison Lacks Understanding
    2. Tend Your Garden
    3. Good Credit is from God

    We demolish arguments, and take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 10:5

CHAPTER 11

A. Humor in the Service of Truth 11:1-6

    1. Sarcasm - You tolerate my foolishness,
    2. Ridicule - and accept the false teachers
    3. Irony - who are "super-fine".

B. Real False Apostles 11:7-15

    1. Embezzlers - Ministry for Personal Gain
    2. Pretenders - Sounding Good, but Hollow
    3. Deceivers - Telling Lies is Satan's Work

C. Concern for the Churches 11:16-33

    1. A Heavy Burden
    2. Felt Daily
    3. Described as Anxiety

Verse to Remember:

    Besides outward persecutions, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches. 11:9

CHAPTER 12

A. Discourse on Paradise, Prickers and Paradoxes 12:1-10

B. Perspectives of a Christian Leader 12:11-21

    1. Toward Him/Her Self - Superior but Humble
    2. Toward the Church - Sacrificial
    3. Toward God - Accountable

    He said to them, "My grace is sufficient for you, and my power is made perfect in weakness." 12:9

CHAPTER 13

Conclusion and Farewell

    Aim for perfection, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you. 13:11
