God Bless America?!?!

Written by Ted Chadwick

Many people have been touched by last week's tragedy in New York, and many have responded with pleas for prayer. The very media personas who once berated President Bush for holding prayer meetings have now been asking the American public to pray. I've heard people mention prayer in conversation; people who have not shown any interest toward the heart of God, at least in conversations with me before. I questioned one friend about this, and he responded: "Everybody gets religion--especially when you're in fear."

So my question is this: How are we going to get the message across to our fellow Americans that the Almighty God is not just someone we call in a crisis, and ignore the rest of the time?

I've thought of a few ways to get this word out. I've recorded a song about it: more about that in a minute. But we all can help educate our nation about this quite simply: Instead of putting up banners everywhere that say "God Bless America", let's put up banners, signs, and marquees that say "America Bless God." Let's write it on the windows of our cars, on the front doors of our houses, on the big lighted signs out in front of our churches or even on billboards.

This will get our people thinking. And with thinking comes questions, and they will come to us for answers. The fields are ripe unto harvest--and right now their hearts are a little bit softer towards the story of Jesus.

As a nation, we can't expect Him to hear our prayers when we've been rebellious against Him. II Chron. 7:14 says that we should not simply pray, but also humble ourselves, and actually turn from our wicked ways, in order for God to hear our prayers. Now many of us as individuals do this daily already -- but what about our nation, our land, which has become so ignorant of the Bible and the heart of God? For more background, read II Chron. 7:14, however, to get the whole context, read verses 12 thru 22.

Haven't we as a nation already enjoyed God's blessing? Isn't it true, that these blessings have been bestowed upon our land because we honored Him with our lives? We all know that a relationship is a two-way street. But do Americans today know this? In this land, where the fastest growing religion is witchcraft? If we take an honest look, we see that our land really needs to turn back to God: and our people don't even realize it. So let's get the word out. Flip-flop the wording on the banners: "AMERICA BLESS GOD!"

NOW, about that song I mentioned:

One of my newest songs, "America Bless God ", is available FREE online: just follow this link. http://www.mp3.com/Ted_Chadwick

It's a call to repentance. There's a short version and the full version as well. Other new praise and worship songs will be available soon so feel free to check back weekly.

Prov. 1:28 - 33 Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

Chron. 7: 12-22 And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.
