What about humans who have never heard about Jesus as personal Savior?
Scores are born into this world who never see a Bible, never listen to a
gospel sermon, never even hear the name of "Jesus Christ," let alone know
His identity. They never meet a Christian missionary, walk into a
Christian church, nor receive an invitation to be saved through Jesus'
grace.
Many of these people are surrounded by a false religion with its
trappings and false proclamations.
Has God forgotten these human beings? Has He no concern for their souls'
destinies? Has He no means by which to communicate with them? Will all
of them be damned to hell forever? Have they no chance at all for
heaven?
Where can we find reliable information concerning this dilemma?
It is in the revealed Word, of course: Romans 2:11-16.
God has not forgotten those who have received no missionary instruction
as to the Jesus Way. He is concerned about their souls' eternities. And
He, forever's Missionary, does speak to these ones about righteousness,
the moral law and the possibility of knowing Him. Therefore, these ones
do have their own personal chances for salvation and its consequent hope
of eternal life.
The Word states that God is not prejudiced for any set of people nor
against any set of people. He is the God without bias for He is the
Creator of us all; therefore, in the holy nature of deity, He cannot
permit discriminatory leanings. He cannot and He does not.
Therefore, God, having no favorites, seeks out all to be saved--including
those immersed in false religions, those isolated from gospel teaching.
How then does God communicate with these people?
He does so by way of the conscience which He lights into every human at
conception. This conscience is sensitive to right and wrong. (Such is
another evidence of the democracy of God in dealing with every human
regarding salvation.)
Therefore, when those who have not the law of righteousness do by
conscience the things contained in the law, they, having no knowledge of
Christian teaching, become a law unto themselves.
These ones then, obeying the law of goodness by way of their consciences'
decisions for right, show the divine law written upon their hearts.
Their consciences bear witness to their moral choices, either accusing or
excusing them in the light of divine judgment.
Only God knows then the full scope of divine grace upon the human race in
any generation. Only forever's Missionary has the complete printout of
salvation's stats at any given time.
On the other hand, it is true that Jesus has commissioned His own to
gospel the planet. Therefore, Christians are still under orders to
instruct the unsaved about the Jesus Way.
Nevertheless, because of the Church's lack of missionary interest, lack
of money supply to support global missions outreach, lack of lavish
renouncement of material goods in order aggressively to pursue
gospel-telling worldwide, forever's Missionary does pick up the slack for
He DOES care with a SACRIFICING love.
While the Christian Church may lag behind its commission obligation, yet
forever's Missionary still does His office work in seeking out the
unsaved all around the planet. He does care enough to give HIS all--not
only on Calvary, but in every other divine resource.
Only eternity then will reveal the souls saved purely due to the Holy
Spirit's missionary labor upon questing consciences for divine truth.
When these ones then find in conscience the Savior Jesus, they may not
know Him by name, but they will know His redeeming companionship.
At their personal judgments of commendation, if not before, these lambs
then WILL know the identification of the Love Shepherd who reached them
when nobody else would. His name is Jesus.
