Chains
Chains, my habit had me locked up in chains,
And they weren't the kind that you can see.
Those chains of addiction had a hold of me.
Chains I got to break away from these chains,
Couldn't get around, 'cause I wasn't free.
Wouldn't let me be.
I wanna tell you my story
I think you'll understand
We've got a lot in common,
We couldn't break away from all of those
Chains, my habit had me locked up in chains,
And they weren't the kind that you can see.
Those chains of addiction had a hold of me.
Please believe me when I tell you,
All seemed to be well,
But just for the moment.
Then I'd be imprisoned by all of those chains.
Chains, my habit had me locked up in chains,
And they weren't the kind that you can see.
Those chains of addiction had a hold of me.
Chains, chains of addiction
Chains, chains of addiction
Poem of Hope
Today a smile not a frown
You can’t keep a good man down
For in giving, we receive
In the past I've gone astray
Blessings abound with each new day!
As I grow and change today
I'll keep in mind, God's Will is the Way!
Oh, I Can See
Oh, I can see, it's been put to me
That my livin' wouldn't set me free.
Talking with another man has opened my eyes,
It was those lies, I was telling myself.
Now I realize, I gotta open my mind
And be delivered (from an old kind of grind)!
Oh, I can see, it's been put to me
That my livin' wouldn't set me free.
Every new morning, of every day past
Was a dawning of what was to last.
My Lord, He's been working on me
From His high place, where there's no disgrace!
Oh, I can see, it's been given to me
That my life now is: All It Can Be!
Inspired
Wasn't reading my Bible because of excuses,
Avoiding God's intentions, and all of their uses,
He grabbed me and shook me, till I realized,
If I'd only turn and serve Him, He'd open my eyes.
I'm showered with both Mercy and Grace,
Now given me hope, joy, and a smile on my face,
I did not want to rebel, nor did I yield,
Blessed as a humble worker, in His Great Field!
Ground Zero
Jesus is my friend, He's al I'll ever need,
Since the beginning, He's the Word I desire to heed.
If I have faith as much as a mustard seed,
I'll live in His Love and not the world's greed!
He gave His life so we wouldn't die,
For we are the apple of His eye.
Through trials, storms and brokenness,
I'll always have room for openness.
In His Great Sacrifices and Promises kept,
Without any faith, I would soon have wept,
Calling me home, and soon I'll be there,
As it will be meeting Jesus in mid-air!
Help
I need You for everything converging on me,
Wounded and broken, lost in a deep sea,
Relations and finances taking their toll,
I pray that you rescue me from this dark hole.
Wiggling and squirming, I try to break free,
If I'd only surrender, and get on my knees,
Then You'd lift me out, held by a trap,
Miracles happen when I praise and clap
Of time and distance, can't hold the measure,
My joy and thankfulness is beyond any treasure!
Skirting My Issues
When what I hold onto is used up and gone,
Brings time of reflection alone at the pond.
Without calculations, I'd be in God's Will,
But I chose to go my way, alone ever still.
Episodes onward I'll learn if I try,
Impending reality hits hard and I cry.
Now, get up, come faithfully into God's Love,
Be captured and realize, I'll fly like a Dove!
On the Other Side
It's not that grass is greener,
Rather I'll be living cleaner.
Limitations be where I sit,
Transformed when rescued from the pit,
If it be my will or not I say,
Restoration in the morning of a new day.
Once contained by steel and block,
God grants freedom, He opens the lock.
Now I serve and fear an Almighty King,
Forever rescued, and saved from death's sting!
