Soldier of the Cross

Hard working soldier picking up the cross,
humbly serving others, those who the world considers lost.

Counting each moment precious that he has the chance to share,
the good news of Jesus Christ and all the burdens that our Lord bears.

The soldier is a loyal servant to his commander up above,
endeavoring to keep the faith, opening his heart to God's love.

For he has been commissioned to carry out the Lord's plan,
to feed the hungry and comfort the sick, to love his fellow man.

Sometimes the work is demanding, if others only knew,
the tears that the soldier shed, when he had done all that he could do.

How many sleepless nights were spent talking to the heavenly Father,
about the battles of the day, that he fought for his sisters and brothers.

The war will soon be over, for the Lamb of God will come,
and the soldier will be rewarded, for the priceless souls that he won.
